As part of the Economic Development across Fragile Communities project which is funded by the World Bank, Palestine Heritage Trail along with the ICP and Inad Theatre have organized and presented Palestine Heritage Trail theatre show in Bethlehem University last Friday, January 23, 2015.
The project coordinator from the ICP, Manal Al-Qassis, had done a great effort in inviting 110 students to the show. Most of the students are school students around the ages of 14-17 who are participants in a program called ACCESS that is given in the ICP in cooperation with the AMIDEAST and funded by the American Council, in addition to some students from Bethlehem University.
As part of the Advocacy Activities that are given through ACCESS program, Manal saw that attending such a show and being a member of Palestine Heritage Trail would enrich the knowledge and learning process of the students and would broaden their awareness about environment, culture, society, and tourism in their country Palestine.
Right after the show, Khaled Al-Masu, an actor and the producer of Palestine Heritage Trail show, asked the attendance about their experience in hosting tourists and about the importance of the historical, religious places that reinforces our existence as Palestinian in our land. Abu Ismaail, the owner of the Bedouin Tent in Al-Rashayda area, contributed in delivering his good experience in hosting tourists and the amount of benefit it had on him and his family, culturally, socially, and economically. Khaled Al-Masou then asked if anyone had the chance to host before or went on any hiking trip in PHT path before. Many of the students contributed effectively about their experiences and their good knowledge about Palestine Heritage Trail to the extent that many of them have posted on their Facebook pages about the trail and the importance of its programs and activities on all levels. In addition to the participation of some of them in hiking trips on Palestine Heritage Trail path.
Moreover, George Rishmawi, the executive director of Palestine Heritage Trail, had given a short speech about Palestine Heritage Trail and the benefits behind engaging in the activities that the PHT arranges. He reinforced the importance of hiking the Abraham path and said that “the best way to know a country, is to walk it”.
