Hebron
From the picturesque village of Tequa’, walkers to Hebron make their way into the desert and can spend a night sleeping under the stars before turning East to climb past a series of crumbling monasteries along an ancient ascent into the mountains. In the high country overlooking the Rift Valley to the east is Bani Na’im, home to a grave and shrine dedicated to the prophet Lut, nephew of Ibrahim.
This region continues to echo with the memory of Ibrahim, from the pastoral setting of the country hills on the edge of the desert to the route’s climax: a huge shrine in the center of Hebron which houses the symbolic tombs of Ibrahim and his family, built atop the cave where tradition says they were all laid to rest.
Day Stages
After leaving the desert, you will head towards Beni Na’im, a quite village famous for the grape groves surrounding the area
Stroll the narrow streets of the old quarters and admire its buildings, typical of traditional vernacular Mamluk and Ottoman architecture.
This stage will take you from the busy streets of Hebron through agricultural fields surrounding the city and picturesque valleys rich in natural beauty and archeological sites.
South of Hebron awaits you as the new part of the Palestine Heritage Trail, inviting all hikers, especially those interested in architectural and archaeological heritage.

The stage reveals impressive ruins of ancient monasteries, shrines, presses and cisterns.

Dhaheriyah’s historic core, with its narrow streets and small domed stone houses, is a well-preserved example of an architectural complex that dates back to the Ottoman era.
